Acts – The Gospel Advances When We Lay Down Our Freedoms For Others

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 15:36-16:40
Service Type:

Big Idea: The Gospel Advances When We Lay Down Our Lives.

Points:

1. We lay down our Freedoms for Others.

2. We Don’t Insist On Our Own Plans.

3. We Count and Bear the Cost.

Application:

Imitate Christ, as he gave up his life for you, you give up your life for him and for others.

The gospel is for all people regardless of race, gender, religion, attitude or ethnic group. So share the gospel with all people.

Practice extreme acts of hospitality with your neighbors, colleagues and friends.

Christ Connection:

Why should we lay down our lives for God and for others? Because Jesus laid down his life for us. The self sacrificial death of Jesus bought his people forgiveness of sins, securing a spot for us in the New Creation when Jesus will return to fully usher in the Kingdom of God. And he calls us to imitate him. Just as Christ’s suffering brought us life, our suffering, inconveniences or troubles, can be used by God to open other peoples’ hearts to the gospel.
