Growing in Understanding of Christ
February 12, 2023
The Gospels vividly narrate to us the events of Jesus’s ministry on earth. Our passage from Matthew 13:53–14:36 this week was packed with various events of his ministry.
Jesus was misunderstood and opposed by religious leaders of the day. Later, when he was with a crowd of 5,000 people and healing their sick, he miraculously fed the crowd from just a little bit of food. And then during a storm later on, he invited his disciple Peter to walk on the water toward him.
In the sermon, Paul Ling led us to reflect on each of these events and what images or attributes of Christ stand out from them. He challenged us to think deeply about these things and not settle just for the images of Jesus that we’ve grown up with. While discussing, we got to hear each other’s reflections and encourage each other to grow in our true understanding of Christ from the Word.
