Out Of Context

In our first sermon, Kyle Essary, one of our elders, preached from Daniel 1 which we explored the clash of cultures, the temptation to compromise, and the peaceful resistance Daniel and his companions experienced.
We learned from Daniel 1 about how we should live in a world where cultures collide. The biblical solution is to seek godly wisdom through prayer, meditation on the gospel, and living in a Christian community.
We also learned about God’s sovereignty. It was God, and not Nebuchadnezzar, who was ultimately the one moving the wheel of history to accomplish his eternal ends. We take comfort knowing that God is working, even amidst the chaos in this world.
As believers, we’re called to represent the true King in cultures that may not know Him, affirming the positive while rejecting sin and remaining hopeful in God’s grace. Let’s be agents of grace, affirming God’s goodness and pointing others to Christ in a broken world.
