Peter: Apostle or Apostate?

Many know the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed. But this week, we got to reflect on this story more deeply.

Before denying Jesus, Peter had been eager & even courageous as a disciple. But all of us, like Peter, are vulnerable to things that we love more than we love Jesus — and so we falter and fail to identify with Jesus at times in our lives.

After denying Jesus, Peter grieved his own failure, received the grace of Jesus in his death & resurrection, and moved on to strengthen others in love.

Ultimately, this account of Peter’s failure shows us the courage required of us, yet the tremendous grace freely given to us. What a moving message to start our Easter week.
