Happy new year from GCC! We said goodbye to 2023 as a church family. No better way to do so than by reflecting on the better possession we have in Jesus’ promises, abiding even as the years pass (Hebrews 11:26–39).

When the priests of the Old Testament offered sacrifices of bulls and goats for the sins of the people, it had to be repeated over and over again. After Christ came to this earth and shed his blood for the sins of the world, no other sacrifice has to be made for sin ever again.

The Old Testament priests had to appear again and again in the temple to deal with the people’s sin. This cycle is now broken. Jesus appeared once and for all to bear our sins. Soon he will appear again—not to bear sins—but to bring us salvation.

There’s so much to learn & reflect on & be *thankful* for, about Jesus’s priesthood. This Sunday we are carrying on our series in Hebrews, looking at Jesus’s eternal and perfect priesthood — by which he is able to save us completely.

Last week we learnt a lot about Melchizedek. This week, we will use what we’ve learnt and see how Jesus compares and why a better priest is still needed after the order of Melchizedek.
